This year the alternates will be Mattias Ohlund, Willie Mitchell and Ryan Kesler. Thanks to the last goalie to be a team captain Bill "Time to talk to the ref" Durnan of the 47/48 Montreal Canadiens, the NHL has a rule prohibiting goalies from being Captains. Let's face it, it's a stupid rule. Your captain should be the guy who leads, and on this team, is there anyone with more passion and competitive fire than #1? Ohlund will handle ceremonial faceoffs and Mitchell, the shrinking violet that he is will be the one conversing with officials. No word yet on whether Marty Turco plans to file a lawsuit against Luongo and the Canucks.
